Try Out Overview 

Virginia Legacy East End Wizards try-outs for the 2011-2012 Season will be held May 23-26, 2011 at the Hines Middle School soccer field located on McLawhorne Dr off Jefferson Ave in Newport News; the school is right next to the Midtown Recreation Center. It is preferred that players play in their own age group.  Exceptions should be discussed with the East End Coaching Director Steve Shaw at 757-286-9344 or email sshaw@cnu.edu. Players competing at U13 or above age groups will conduct try-outs through Virginia Legacy, you can visit their web site at www.valegacysoccer.com .

 Registration: All East End players should register for tryouts through the Virginia Legacy website (click here) or visit www.valegacysoccer.com.   There is no cost to apply for or attend tryouts! Please print the information and bring it with you to the tryout.  Below are tryout age groups aligned with appropriate birth dates:

       Birthdates:

       -  U10. . . . . . born on or after August 1st, 2001

       -  U11. . . . . . born  on or after August 1st, 2000

       -  U12. . . . . . born  on or after August 1st, 1999

 East End Tryout Dates: Players are required to attend both tryouts, please let us know when you check in at tryouts if you can’t attend both sessions. If you can not attend either, please contact the East End Coaching Director Steve Shaw at 757-286-9344, and arrange for a special try-out session to be completed PRIOR to the dates listed below. Special try-outs are also available throughout the year if team slots, per age group, are still available.

 ** NOTE: U9 boys and girls teams compete in the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League (TASL) & numerous tournaments as part of the East End Development program under the direction the Christopher Newport University (CNU) Men's team Assistant Coach Justin Chezem; please see the Development Program page. U9 players trying out for U10 boys and girls teams that are not selected, will automatically be considered for a U9 Advanced Team; final decisions to join U9 Advanced Teams is up to the parents.
