Try Out Overview

Virginia Legacy East End Wizards try-outs for the 2009-2010 Season will be held May 18-21 2009 at the Hines Middle School soccer field located on McLawhorne Dr off Jefferson Ave in Newport News; the school is right next to the Midtown Recreation Center. It is preferred that players play in their own age group.  Exceptions should be discussed with the Regional Coaching Director Steve Shaw at 757-286-9344 or email sshaw@cnu.edu. It is not unusual for a u/9 player to play one year at the u/10 age group and then drop into his/her own age group the following year.  This allows for greater leadership and expression opportunities for the individual player.

               May 20,Wednesday   U10 Boys*             5:30-7:00pm  (born after August 1st, 1999)

                                             U12 Boys & Girls    7:00-8:30pm  (born after August 1st, 1997)  

               May 21, Thursday      U10* & U11 Girls   5:30-7:00pm  (born after August 1st, 1999 & 1998)  

                                             U11 Boys              7:00-8:30pm  (born after August 1st, 1998)

                  * NOTE: U9 players trying out for U10 boys and girls teams that are not selected, will

                automatically be considered for a U9 Advanced Team; decisions to joint U9 Advanced Teams

                is at the discretion of parents.

 Try-out Administrative Notes:

All players should register for tryouts through the Virginia Legacy website.

   (1) For players to register, they must first fill out a "Tryout Registration" via the VLSC website at  https://www.youthleaguesusa.com/williamsburg/2009/Tryout.html (NOTE that this site's posted try-out dates for VLSC are different from East End). Print the information and bring it with you to the East End tryout.  The teams with selected players will be listed on the Eastendwizards website by Monday, May 25.

   (2) Players invited to participate on East End Legacy Teams are required to complete the acceptance link on the Virginia Legacy website within 48 hours to confirms his/her acceptance to the team at https://www.youthleaguesusa.com/williamsburg/2009/Travel.html. 

   (3) Final registration for the team will be completed on May 26, 6-8pm at Christopher Newport University (CNU), Ratcliffe Hall room 151.  This is the building closest to the fields.  At this time you must bring:

        * The original birth certificate or VYSA player card

        * 1 1X1 picture (passport photo)

        * Medical Release

        * Player must sign player pass at this time

        * 1^st payment – credit cards will be accepted

        *** Remember:  Scholarship forms are due in the Legacy office no later than April 27

 2009-2010 Payment Structure for Virginia Legacy East End

              WIZARDS-BOYS TOP TEAMS;  TITANS-BOYS 2^ND TIER TEAMS; PHOENIX-GIRLS TOP TEAMS

 FEE INCLUDES:  Coaching fees, league fees, 3 tournaments, Legacy & League administration fees, technical & GK training with Legacy Staff

 NOT INCLUDED: Uniform fees, winter (indoor) coaching and league fees, coaches’ travel expenses, summer camps, Additional tournaments

* Please try to pay as much as you are able up front

* You must fill out the scholarship form by April 27 if the 1^st payment due cannot be met
