 East End Development Program

Development Program of Virginia Legacy East End Soccer Club attends LA Galaxy versus DC United match on 22 August 2009

 The Program:
The "Virginia Legacy East End Wizards" is an outreach soccer program to boys and girls in the Virginia peninsula area (Hampton, Newport News, and York County; but not limited to those). Our objective is to mentor boys and girls through soccer developmental skills training, introduction to the game, and competing as part of select soccer teams.
The outreach program, hosted by the Christopher Newport University (CNU) Soccer Staff,  was originally called "Salty Dog" but has grown far beyond a mere developmental program. This development program includes kids from ages 5-12 and will continue to grow, and bridges the gap between recreational and select or travel soccer. Boys and girls trained in this program are now participating in select/travel teams that compete in the Tidewater Advanced Soccer League, the Virginia Soccer League, and the Virginia Champions Club League.
The program has four parts: (1) the fall season begins 10 August 2009 and runds through the second week in November. Practices are at Hines Middle School which is located off Jefferson Avenue near Main Street, from 5:30-7pm on Mondays and Thursdays.  (2) An indoor session is held from December  through March which is followed by (3) by the spring season from march until May. (4) In the summer months we meet up on Fridays at one of the CNU's beautiful fields for more fun and instruction. Fees are $150 per season in the fall and spring, $50 for the winter session, and the summer is free and open to the community.
Within the developmental program, numerous players, both boys and girls, based primarily on ability, are offered to participate in several scrimmages against other clubs and programs, as well as local but official soccer tournaments. Young players also get the opportunity to participate as ball-boys/girls at CNU men's and women's games and also play for the crowd during half time.
We think our instruction is second to none as all University coaches and many of the players participate to make the program fun and a super learning experience for young aspiring players.

*** All Games will be played at Queens Lake Middle School!

Last Practice -  Our last scheduled practice will be Nov. 9th .  I want the kids to take two weeks off and we’ll start up indoor.

Indoor -  We’ll start indoor on Dec. 1 and go through the end of Feb.  We’ll train once a week on Tuesdays (5-6:15pm) and play in league games during the week.  Training will take place at Crittenden Middle which is very close to Hines.  The league will not start until after Christmas Break.

 Coach's Notes to Parents:

Sweatshirts -  If you would like to order a East End sweatshirt please let your team manager know your size.  The sweatshirts will be green and have the East End logo on the front.  The cost depends on how many we order but the price will be around $20.  I know the kids would enjoy having them especially once it starts getting cold.
