Practice Statuses

Indoor Practices began 1 December 2009. All practices are at Hines Middle School in Newport News, call your team manager for exact dates and times.

 

For outdoor inclement weather cancellations, speak to your manager; you can also check the Newport News Website (click here) for field closures.

Background:

Coach Shaw is the Director of the East End Wizards program. He has been a college coach for 20 years at William & Mary and Christopher Newport University, and was most recently voted Virginia and USA South's Collegiate Coach of the Year for 2008.

Ryan "Hags" Hagerty has been an assistant coach at CNU for 8 years.  As a CNU player, he led the Captains to the NCAA Elite 8 in 2000.

Background:

Justin “Cheese” Chezem  is an Assistant Coach at CNU.  He played 4 years anchoring the CNU defense and was an all-conference and all-region player for the Captains.

Background: Coach Sidhu played College level soccer at Longwood College, VA, and became the assistance coach to the men's team from graduation -1988; he was also the interim head coach there for the 1989 season. From 1990-1996 he was the York High School boys varsity coach followed by 8 years as head coach for Grafton High School from 1997-2005.

Background:

Coach Firnstahl played at Cox High School and local clubs most of his life. He has coached youth soccer teams for over 9 years, most recently with Churchland where he coached his U12 "River Rats" to become State Cup Finalists. He also currently holds his USSF National D License.

Background: Coach Gasparini played soccer most of his life and holds his National Youth License and Advanced Diploma from NSCAA as well as a National USSF B License. He has coached youth soccer teams through the High School level for over 15 years which includes staff positions for State Soccer Camps.

Background: Coach Davis played with the CNU Captains where he started as a defender all four years and  was pivotal in the Captains run to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament in 2008. His senior year he was named First Team All-South, First Team All-USA South pick, and also named to the USA South’s All-Tournament squad.

Background: Coach Williams played at the collegiate level at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA.  He has coached for over 14 years at the recreation an travel youth level teams, most recently with Virginia Legacy, Colonial FC and Williamsburg SC.
